Renowned local actor Zahid Hasan is going to make his debut in the Indian film industry with Ashish Roy’s Sitara, scheduled to release on May 31 in Bangla, Tamil and Telegu languages in different states of India.
Based on eminent writer Abul Bashar’s novel Bhorer Proshuti, the film revolves around the people living in India-Bangladesh border areas, who earn their livelihood through smuggling.
‘As an actor, I am happy to be part of Sitara which is going to be released in three languages in India. Working in Sitara was an enriching experience for me,’ said Zahid Hasan.
‘The story of Sitara entails many aspects. Underprivileged people, their lives, relationships, society and the prevalent tension at border areas all are depicted in the film,’ added the actor, who hopes that the film will be imported to Bangladesh and released in local cinemas under South Asian Free Trade Area agreement.
The shooting of the film took place in Mekhliganj of Cooch Behar district in the Indian state of West Bengal.
Alongside Zahid Hasan, local actors Fazlur Rahman Babu, Shahed Ali and Tollywood actress Raima Sen will be seen portraying pivotal roles in Sitara.
