Five leading Bangladesh artists led by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy director general Liaquat Ali Lucky are set to showcase their works in the upcoming Venice Biennale which will be held from May 11 to November 24 at Venice in Italy.
The five artists are Nazia Andaleeb Preema, Uttam Kumar Karmaker, Ruhul Amin Kajol, Gazi Nafis Ahmed and Bishwajit Goswami.
They will display paintings, sculptures and installation at a pavilion at the six-month long festival.
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy director general Liaquat Ali Lucky will be present at the inauguration. He is the commissioner of the current edition for Bangladesh at the Venice Biennale.
‘It is indeed a great honour to represent Bangladesh in such a
prestigious festival. I hope the event will be a great learning experience for our artists. Bangladesh officially participated in the event for thefirst time in 2013,’ said Liaquat Ali Lucky.
The Bangladeshi Pavilion at Venice Biennale will be curated by Vi Vi Ana Vennucie.
The Venice Biennale is one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in the world which was founded in 1895. It has been working for promoting of new artistic trends and organising international events in the contemporary arts with the aim to bring the best of the world in one event dispersed across numerous venues in Venice.
