Popular singer Balam has paused his solo career and joined LRB as its lead vocalist in a move to fill the void left by the demise of the band’s founder and frontman Ayub Bachhu, who passed away on October 18, 2018.
The band introduced its new line-up on Friday at a programme, marking its 28th anniversary held at Cafe Thirty3 on Baily Road, titled ‘The Legacy Continues’.
The new line-up of the band comprises Balam (Guitar & Vocal), Masud (Guitar), Swapon (Bass) and Romel (Drums).
LRB, abbreviation of Love runs blind, was founded by Ayub Bachchu in 1991.
LRB performed more than 500 open-air and 2,000 indoor concerts. LRB is the only Bangla rock band to have performed at the Madison Square Garden in New York. It also toured USA, Europe and many other countries for live performance.
‘LRB is a popular band and Ayub Bachchu is a legend of our music industry. I will strongly urge all not to think of me as his replacement. I can never be him. He was my idol. I grew-up listening to his songs,’ said Balam, a former member of Warfaze.
