An evening of Lalon songs

Artistes of Shahid Shilpighosthi paid tribute to mystic bard Fakir Lalon Shah through rendition of his popular songs at a programme at Music and Dance Centre of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Sunday.
The programme titled ‘Saiji Shorone Alochona O Sangskritik Anushtan’, organised by Shahid Shilpighosthi, featured discussion on Lalon life and works and a music show.
Bangla Academy award winning poet Quasi Rosy was present as the chief guest at the programme, while Bulbul Academy of Fine Arts president Hasanur Rahman Bachchu, singer Rupu Khan and others were present as speakers at the programme.
The speakers highlighted Fakir Lalon Shah’s anti-communal and humanitarian messages embedded in his songs.
Following the discussion, Shahid Shilpigoshti artistes commenced the music show with chorus rendition of patriotic song like Teer hara ei dheuer sagor paying tribute to liberation war martyrs. The chorus then rendered Lalon song Allah bol mon re pakhi to the delight of the audience.
Following were solo presentations. Singer M Shahidullah rendered Ghore ke ba ghumai ke ba jage, Shoma Sarkar presented Pabe sammanney ki tar dekha, Shahnaz Parvin rendered Dhanna dhanna boli tare, Nazrul Islam sang Shob loke koy lalon ki jaat sangshare, Rezaul Karim Hiron rendered Jaat gelo jaat gelo boley and Silvia sang Amar ghor khanay ke biraj kore.
