Udichi’s 21st national convention ends

The 21st National Convention of Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi ended on Saturday.
The three-day event, which was inaugurated by eminent educationist Ajoy Roy at Mahanagar Natya Mancha in Dhaka on Thursday, featured general meetings, talks, cultural performances and a election to form its central governing committee.
A new committee, which will govern the activities of Udichi in the next two years, was declared at the concluding ceremony of the convention.
Dr Shafiuddin Ahmed and Jamshed Anwar Tapan have been respectively elected president and general secretary of the new 91-member committee.
This year’s convention also featured tenth Satyen Sen Gono Sangeet Utsab and National Gono Sangeet Contest.
Udichi artistes from across the country participated in the contest divided in four groups.
Rubaiyat Yousuff from Moulvibazar became champion in Ka group, Mehedi Hasan from Sirajganj bagged top award in Kha group, Jotish Chandra Burman from Thakurgaon won first prize in Ga group. Besides, artistes of Udichi Madaripur branch became champion in Gha group.
