A three-day cultural festival titled ‘Muktisangram Sangskritik Utsab-2019’ ended on Jahangirnagar University campus on Wednesday.
JU, in association with JU Teacher Student Centre (TSC), organised the festival marking the 49th Independence Day of the country. Vice chancellor of JU Professor Farzana Islam inaugurated the festival at Zahir Raihan auditorium at 10:00 am on Monday.
The 3-day festival featured discussions, art camp, theatre shows, music shows, film screenings and others.
Textile and jute minister Golam Dastagir Gazi inaugurated an art camp as the chief guest at Zahir Raihan auditorium at 4:00 pm on Monday. The event also featured a discussion and award giving programme.
Artiste of defunct Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra Fakir Alamgir, Quazi Sajjad Ali Zahir Bir Protik, freedom fighter Furkan Begum, freedom fighter Dr Mahmuda Nargis and others were honoured at the programme.
‘We have been organising the festival for the last two years to disseminate the spirit of the liberation war among the younger generation,’ Professor Bashir Ahmed, convener of the festival, told New Age.
