Speaker accepts Rawshan as deputy opposition leader

Jatiya Sangsad speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Monday accepted Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad’s request of appointing Rawshan Ershad as the deputy leader of the opposition.

Rawshan, the lawmaker from Mymensingh 4 constituency, will replace Ghulam Mohammad Quader MP from Lalmonirhat 3, said a circular issued by parliament secretary Jafar Ahmed Khan.

On Saturday,  JP chairman and also the leader of the opposition HM Ershad’s letter addressing the speaker on March 23 for taking necessary step as per the ‘Deputy Leader of the Opposition (Remuneration and Privileges) Ordinance, 1979,’ the circular added.

Rawshan was the leader of the opposition in the 10th parliament.

Earlier on Friday, JP co-chairman GM Quader was relieved of the position. The organisational order issued Ershad stated that his younger GM Quader failed to run the party properly and created divisions in the party.
