Dhaka University authorities on Thursday formed a seven-member probe body to scrutinise the allegations of irregularities in Dhaka University central Student Union polls raised by the boycotting panels.
Supernumerary professor of mathematics department Sazeda Banu heads the committee which was asked to submit the reports in seven working days, a DU press release said on Thursday.
Other members on the panel are science faculty dean Emdadul Huq, Sir PJ Hartog International Hall provost Mohiuddin, economic department chairman Shafiq Uzzaman, syndicate member Humayun Kabir, Sharmin Rumi Ali and university assistant proctor Maksudur Rahman is member secretary of the committee.
Of the 13 contesting panels, Pragatishil Chhatra Oikya, Sadharan Chhatra Adhikar Sangrakshan Parishad, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, Swatantra Jote, Chhatra Federation, Swadhikar Swatantra Prishad and Islami Sashantantra Chhatra Andolan announce boycotting the elections midway protesting at the alleged vote rigging by the ruling Awami League’s student body Bangladesh Chhatra League.
Chhatra League nominated Sammilita Shikkharthi Parishad panel swept the DUCSU polls securing all the posts of its 25-member executive committee except the vice president and social services secretary positions.
In the 11 March DUCSU and hall union polls, Chhatra League won the full panel in most of the halls and secured 23 posts in the central union.
Bangladesh General Students’ Rights Protection Council-backed candidate Nurul Haq Nur was elected DUCSU vice-president and Chhatra League nominated Golam Rabbani won general secretary post.
