Woman found dead in Pabna

Police recovered the body of a woman from an apartment on Bank Road (Sutapatti) in the district headquarters on Saturday noon.
The victim, identified as Bithi Akter Shaju, 40, ex-wife of Nasir Uddin of village Monoharpur in Pabna Sadar, was living with her son in a rented house on Bank Road for last few months.
Local people informed police after bad smell spread from the apartment. Police recovered the body lying in her room.
Julfikar Ali Bhutto, an electrician, managed the rent of her house and had access to her room. However, after the incident, Bhutto disappeared, police said quoting locals.
The victim’s son, Md Himel, told New Age that his mother had married Bhutto.
‘He often tortured my mother. He might have killed her,’ Himel claimed.
Officer-in-charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station Obaidul Haque said that the victim might have been killed couple of days ago, adding that the body was sent to Pabna Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination Saturday noon.
Police were investigating the incident, the OC added.
