Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority on Thursday demolished 60 structures illegally build on the river land of the River Turag near Dhaka Udyan of Mohammadpur in the capital.
During the drive they demolished five three-storey, six two-storey and 10 one-storey buildings.
The BIWTA also demolished 26 boundary walls which were built to grab the river land and restored two acres of the Turag channel by removing a 10-feet-wide road on the bank of the river.
The eviction drive would start again on Tuesday, BIWTA joint director and Dhaka Port officer AKM Arif Uddin said.
Since January last, the BIWTA demolished around 1,800 illegal structures which were built grabbing the river land of the Buriganga and Turag.
