A weeklong street theatre festival, titled ‘Bangladesh Path Natok Utsab-2019’, began at Central Shaheed Minar with the staging of six street plays on Friday.
Bangladesh Path Natok Parishad has organised the festival where forty eight troupes from across the country are participating.
On the opening day, Anushilan Natya Dal staged Buderamer Kupe Pora, Cumilla Natya Dal staged The Trap, Nagorik Natyangan Bangladesh staged Bangla Amar Bangla, Nat Nandan staged Bish Pabaner Geet, Ba Natua staged Ekusher Golpo and Utso Natyadal staged Lebash at the festival, which was inaugurated by former cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor, in presence of Sommilito Sanskritik Joje president Golam Kuddus, thespians Lucky Enam and M Hamid, recitation artiste Ahkam Ullah and others.
Bangladesh Path Natok Parishad president Mannan Hira presided over the inaugural ceremony.
On Saturday, theatre troupes Sanswaptak, Vision Theatre, Natyojoddha, Rangapith Natya Dal, Nagarik Natyangon Ensemble, Ethic Theatre and others staged plays at the festival.
‘The festival is featuring recently produced street plays. Our aim is to provide a platform for theatre directors and actors to showcase their talent,’ Ahmed Gias, general secretary of Bangladesh Path Natok Parishad, told New Age.
