Arshinagar stages Rahu Chandaler Har. — New Age photo

Theatre troupe Arshinagar staged its play Rahu Chandaler Har on Thursday at Selim Al Deen Muktamancho on Jahangirnagar University campus.
The play was staged on the fifth day of a weeklong theatre festival, titled ‘Bongo Milon Nattya Utshabh – 2019’, organised by JU-based Jahangirnagar Theatre (Auditorium).
The festival is featuring plays by troupes from both Bangladesh and West Bengal, India.
Rahu Chandaler Har is an adaptation of Abhijit Sen’s novel. The play has been directed by Reza Arif, associate professor of JU drama and dramatics department.
Set in the nineteenth century, the play revolves around members of a gypsy community and follows them from the highland of northern India to the lowland of the present day Bangladesh.
The director has used the narrative style to present the novel. The play depicts how gypsies stay on the move both to earn a living and escape oppression by the society and the state.
Sohel, Daigy, Evan, Putul, Jisha, Atik, Nisha, Shama, Abir, Shuvo, Rupa, Hridoy, Regan, Lova, Tuttul and others acted in the play.
A large audience comprising teachers and students of JU enjoyed the play.
Today, Jahagirnagar Theatre (Auditorium) will stage Chilekothar Sepai at the festival.
