The High Court Division on Tuesday adjourned until January 27 hearing a writ petition seeking directive to the government to let the annual Bishwa ijtema commence and Tabligh Jamaat resume its activities.
A bench of Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Md Khairul Alam adjourned the hearing after deputy attorney general Motahar Hossain Sazu informed it that the home minister was due met the representative of two Tabligh factions of today.
The writ petition was filed by Supreme Court lawyer and Tabligh Jamaat follower Md Eunus Mollah challenging the legality of suspending Tabligh activities including holding annul Bishwa ijtema ahead of the general election.
The 1st phase of Biswa Ijtem was scheduled to be held from January 11 to 13 and the 2nd one from January 18 to 20.
