Shipping minister Shajahan Khan, also executive president of Bangladesh Road Transport Workers’ Federation, on Sunday refused to make any comment on the ongoing countrywide strike enforced by transport workers.
The federation is observing a 48-hour work abstention from Sunday 6:00am demanding changes to the newly enacted Road Transport Act, 2018.
When journalists approached for his comment on the on the strike at his office, the minister replied, ‘No comments.’
Road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader, meanwhile, at Shetu Bhaban told journalists that it was not possible right now to amend the law.
‘At this moment, I want urge them to withdraw the strike as there is no benefit to make people suffer,’ he said.
He requested the transport workers to be patient till next government and parliament is formed.
If they have any legitimate demands those would be considered then, he added.
