A joint music video by local band Chirkutt and Latin American band 24 Horas has won the prestigious Best Music Video Award at the Official Latino Short Film Festival.
Confirming the news, Chirkutt vocalist Sharmin Sultana Sumi said the video, titled ‘Antore Bahire,’ was shot during a tour of Texas, USA early this year.
‘We were in Texas early this year when we shot the video with 24 Horas. It was then released via the Robi Yonder Music app,’ she said.
However, the band did not know that the video had been submitted to Official Latino Short Film Festival. ‘So the award news came pretty much as a surprise,’ Sumi said.
Chirkutt had previously won the Best Original Score Award at the SAARC International Film Festival held in Sri Lanka in June. It got the award for the background music of director Abu Shahed Emon’s Jalaler Galpo.
Founded in 2002, Chirkutt released its debut album Chirkuttnama in 2010. The second album, Jadur Shohor, was released in 2013.
The band was also involved in music direction for a number of films.
