A man was beaten to death allegedly by his brothers-in-law at Dakhshin Madarsa in Hathazari upazila of Chittagong on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Md Anwar, 40, a human-hauler driver and son of Matin Ahmed of village Gopalpur in Lalpur upazila of Natore.
Anwar used to live at his in-laws’ house and allegedly often tortured his wife Moni Begum.
Moni’s three brothers — Jahangir, 24, Alamgir, 30, and Nazrul — beat up Anwar around 9:30pm after he assaulted his wife again in the afternoon. Anwar was seriously injured after they hit him in his head with a torchlight.
When he was then taken to a private clinic, doctors declared him dead.
On information, police recovered the body and detained the three brothers in connection with the murder, said Hathazari police officer-in-charge Md Belal Uddin.
