Up and coming artistes recited popular poems penned by leading and contemporary poets at a programme held at the Music and Dance Centre of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Friday.
Eight artistes of four recitation troupes namely Rajshahi Abritti Parishad, Kathan Abritti Sangathon, Prajanmakantha and Swarobyanjon recited poems penned by Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore, national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, Shamsur Rahman, Sukanta Bhattacharya, Mahadev Saha and others at the programme titled ‘Jalao Alo Apon Alo’, which was organised by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in association with Bangladesh Abritti Samannay Parishad.
Sumana Biswas of Kathan Abritti Sangathon began the programme reciting Rabindranath Tagore’s poem Chirojatri. She also recited Nazrul’s Chirotikto Pran.
Artistes of Rajshahi Abritti Parishad Rubab Iffat Archi and Sumaiya Anwar Purna in duet recited Rabindranath’s Bojhapora to the delight of the audience.
Swashati Paul of Kathan Abritti Sangathon recited Kazi Nazrul Islam’s Obhijan and Tagore’s Dushomay.
Nazneen Sultana of Prajanmakantha recited Shamsur Rahman’s Kabir Diary and Mahadev Saha’s Amar Sonar Bangla, while Arifur Rahman of Swarobyanjon presented Tagore’s Tara.
Besides, Swarobyanjon’s Sumana Zaman presented Shabnam Chowdhury’s Diaryr Pata and Farzana Nazneen Flora recited Sukanta Bhattacharya’s famous poem Chharpatra.
‘We regularly organise recitation programmes featuring young artistes. We want to promote young and promising recitation artistes through such programmes,’ Monirul Islam, programme secretary of Bangladesh Abritti Samannay Parishad, told New Age.
