India’s Bengal Club became champions in the inaugural edition of South Asian Club Table Tennis Championship that ended at the MA Aziz Stadium gymnasium in Chittagong on Monday.
Bengal Club collected total 10 points to finish as champions while Hawaii Table Tennis Club of Nepal finished as runners-up with eight points.
Pallolic Club of Bangladesh had to remain content with third place with six points.
Southern Table Tennis Club of Sri Lanka and Bhutan’s Thimphu Table Tennis Club finished in fourth and fifth place respectively with four and two points.
Maldivian Table Tennis Club of Maldives finished in sixth position with zero points.
In the six matches on the final day, Pallolic Club beat Southern Table Tennis Club by 3-1 sets, Bengal Club thrashed Hawaii Table Tennis Club by 3-0 sets, Thimphu Table Tennis Club beat Maldivian Table Tennis Club by 3-2 sets.
Meanwhile, Pallolic Club defeated Maldivian Table Tennis Club by 3-1 sets, Bengal Club thrashed Southern Table Tennis Club by 3-0 sets and Hawaii Table Tennis Club beat Thimphu Table Tennis Club by 3-1 sets.
Chittagong City Corporation mayor AJM Nasiruddin distributed the prizes among the winners as chief guest on the final day.
