Standard Chartered has launched its first dedicated airport lounge facility for the bank’s clients and international cardholders at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The bank’s signature lounge, which is designed to offer services to more than 70 guests, was inaugurated by civil aviation and tourism minister Rashed Khan Menon on Saturday.
Bank officials said that the lounge featured modern architecture, plush interiors, high speed WiFi connectivity and the best in-class catering from Westin.
It also has an exclusive business lounge where the passengers can comfortably finish their last minute works with the iMac setups just before departure, they said.
The lounge is being operated by Nakshikatha.
Later in the afternoon, at a ‘meet the press’ at Sonargoan hotel, SCB retail banking head Aditya Mandloi said an increasing demand of air travel is being seen as Bangladesh’s economy continues to grow. ‘We believe the signature lounge will set a new benchmark for travel hospitality in Bangladesh, by giving our valuable clients access to world-class services and unique comforts while they travel to destinations across the world,’ he added.
SCB CEO Naser Ezaz Bijoy said SBC has endeavoured to promote commerce and prosperity in Bangladesh by providing clients with the best banking products and services this market has to offer for the last 112 years. ‘The launch of this lounge is a part of this commitment. Moreover, it also speaks of Standard Chartered’s confidence in the sustained growth momentum of our economy,’ he added.
Nakshikatha CEO Mahfuz Ahmed said, ‘The lounge enjoys natural light during the day and moonlight at night. There is also an art gallery which changes its collection every four months.’
The lounge will cater to the priority clients and premium cardholders of the bank 24 hours a day.
