Journalist Utpal Das, 29, working with online portal Purboposhchimbd.news and covering ruling Awami League for the news portal, remains missing since October 10.
The victim’s father Chitta Ranjan Das and editor of the portal Khugista Nur-e-Naharin filed two general diaries with the Motijheel Police Station on Monday and Sunday respectively in connection with the incident, said officer-in-charge of the police station Omar Faruk.
He said that they had already launched drives to trace him out.
Utpal went missing after he left his office at Motijheel about 4:00pm on October 10 and the colleagues in vain searched for him after he did not join the office from October 11, according to the general diary by Khugista.
‘We tried to find out his whereabouts but failing we finally filed the GD,’ his colleague Shahnewaz Sumon said.
His colleagues fear that he might have aroused ire of some quarters for his facebook post.
Uptal’s last facebook status posted about 1:45pm on October 10 reads ‘Talked about new issue: arrest’.
Chitta Ranjan, a resident of Radhanagar, Raipura, Narsingdi, in his general diary mentioned that Utpal phoned his mother on October 10 around noon and his phone was found off since afternoon of the day.
‘As there is no news of my son for 13 days, I am worried about his life,’ he mentioned in his diary.
