The World Investor Week 2017 will begin at the Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka on Monday.
The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission is holding the event with the aim of creating awareness among capital market investors.
The BSEC at a press briefing on Thursday announced that the event would be held in several cities and towns across the country in October 2-8 in response to an International Organisation of Securities Commission call.
Finance minister AMA Muhith is scheduled to inaugurate the event in Dhaka.
The BSEC will arrange different meetings, seminars, workshops and education fair at the event targeting mainly small-scale investors.
BSEC executive director Mahbubul Alam said, ‘The programme would provide some basic awareness-based knowledge of capital market investment so that they can take some decisions independently.’
Another BSEC executive director, Saifur Rahman, said that the regulator had been working to create awareness among investors to reduce their investment risks.
Prime minister’s economic affairs adviser Mashiur Rahman and state minister for finance MA Mannan are scheduled to attend two separate programmes at the week-long event.
