The Rapid Action Battalion claimed a robber was killed and another one injured in a gunfight with them at Lemua in Feni sadar early Wednesday.

Tipped-off that a gang of robbers was committing robbery on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway, the battalion personnel conducted drive in the area, said Squadron Leader Shafayat Jamil Fahim, Feni camp commander, RAB-7.

The robbers opened fire on the law enforcers prompting them to retaliate that triggered a gunfight.

Two robbers — Foysal, 24, and Nur Hossain Selim, 26 — received bullet-wounds during the gunfight, he said.

Both of them were taken to Feni General Hospital where on duty physicians declared Foysal dead, the RAB official said.

The battalion also recovered two locally made guns, bullets and sharp weapons from the spot.

The body was sent to the hospital’s morgue for autopsy.
