Miscreants chopped off the legs of a mill owner in Bhaluka area of Mymensingh in an attack over grabbing a government canal in the area on Wednesday.
Injured Abdur Razzaque, the owner of local Arty Composite Dyeing Mill, was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The local police held three persons for interrogation in this connection, Bhaluka model police station officer-in-charge Mahmudul Islam confirmed the matter.
Locals said that there had been a long standing enmity between the authorities of the mill and local Jashim Uddin Pathan over grabbing the local Dhobajan Khal.
On Wednesday morning, when Razzaque went to the spot to inspect the filling up and sewerage pipeline installation works in the canal, Jashim intercepted him.
At one stage, when Razzaque’s cohorts tried to attack Jashim, a group of locals attacked Razzaque and chopped his both the legs off.
He was first sent to Bhaluka 50-beded Public Hospital and later to the DMCH in a critical condition.
Contacted, Jashim’s brother Nazim Uddin Pathan claimed that they had no idea who had attacked Razzaque.
