A case was filed with Goainghat Police Station on Wednesday night over the murder of a woman and her two children at Binnakandi Dakshin Para at Fatehpur union of Goainghat in Sylhet in the morning.
Victim Aleya’s father Ayub Ali filed the case against some unnamed people, confirmed Goainghat Police Station inspector Dilip Kanta Nath, who is also the investigation officer of the case.
He said that the bodies of Aleya, 27, her son Mizan, 8, and daughter Tanisa, 3, were handed over to their relatives on Thursday afternoon.
He also said that Aleya’s husband Hifzur, who was rescued injured and in an unconscious condition from their house after the murder, was undergoing treatment under police supervision at Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital, said the officer.
Additional police superintendent of Goainghat circle Pravas Kumar Singha told New Age that they were suspecting that Hifzur murdered his wife and two children following a quarrel with his wife.
‘I talked to Hifzur today and his condition is out of danger. He, however, was speaking incoherently. We think that he was trying to hide something over the murder,’ Pravas said.
He said that investigation was underway from different point of views to make out actual motive and people behind the killings.
The police officer said that they came to know that Hifzur has a problem of mental disorder and he had a history of the disorder for long.
‘Even he took treatment for mental disorder a day before the incident from an Ayurvedic physician of their area and we have a talk with him,’ Pravas added.
Hifzur was living with his wife and three children for several years building a hut near the house of his maternal uncles. Only Afsan, a 5-year-old son Hifzur, escaped the killing as he was in his maternal grandfather’s home when the incident took place.
