All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will rejoin his teammates of Mohammedan Sporting Club at the team hotel today given his second Covid-19 test comes out negative, said a Bangladesh Cricket Board official.
Shakib was suspended for three matches for multiple accounts of misconduct during a Dhaka Premier League match against Abahani Limited on Friday.
After receiving the sanction on Saturday, he left the team hotel which is under the biosecure protocol, said Manzur Hossain Chowdhury, a physician working at the BCB.
‘After getting the sanction, Shakib left the team hotel with the permission of the medical team. As per the protocol, he must be tested negative twice within 24 hours to re-enter the bio-secure bubble,’ said the BCB doctor.
‘On Monday he gave the first sample and was found negative. Today [Wednesday] he has provided a second set of samples, if that too also comes out negative then he will be available from tomorrow,’ he added.
Shakib utilised his time out of the bubble by signing an endorsement deal with an educational consultancy company at his residence in the capital, which caused some confusion in the social media as the news of him being out of the bubble was not known to many outside the BCB.
