The Directorate General of Health Services suspended Covid tests at the RT-PCR lab of Medinova Medical Services Ltd for issuing fake Covid test certificates to expatriates without tests.
In a government order signed by Directorate General of Health Services director Md Farid Hossain Mia on Wednesday said that Covid tests at the hospital would remain suspended until further permission.
Medinova hospital at Mirpur-1 in the capital reportedly issued fake ‘negative’ Covid reports for expatriates illegally in exchange of money.
On Wednesday, DGHS in a circular said that they had found allegations of giving fake Covid certificates and directed the institutions that operate the RT-PCR labs to follow certain guidelines.
The circular said that they had found some allegations to be true.
The incident of providing fake Covid test certificates by Medinova came to light about 11 months after the law enforcement agencies in July 2020 unearthed that JKG Health Care and Regent Hospital Limited had provided a huge number of fake Covid certificates without testing samples.
