Bangla Translation Foundation has launched the Anubad Sahitya Puraskar to encourage the translators of the country, said a press release.
Books that have been translated into Bangla from foreign languages and into foreign languages from Bangla belonging to different genres such as literature, film, painting, history, philosophy, politics, science and others, published between June 2020 and May 2021, can be submitted to the Anubad Sahitya Puraskar competition.
‘Although a number of literary awards are given in the country to the poets, writers, researchers and others, translators are not awarded by anyone else except Bangla Academy. Bangla Translation Foundation is the brain-child of translator Anisuzzaman. We have launched the Anubad Sahitya Puraskar to encourage the translators of the country. We will announce the names of the
awardees in November,’ Mojaffor Hossain, co-ordinator of Bangla Translation Foundation, told New Age.
Anubad Sahitya Puraskar will be given in two categories namely Barshasera Anudita Boi and Anubadak Ajiban Sammanana.
The winner of Barshasera Anudita Boi will receive Tk 50,000 while the winner in Anubadak Ajiban Sammanana category will receive Tk 1,00,000.
