The Appellate Division on Sunday stayed a High Court order that allowed Mac Enterprises to run its stone business on the bank of the River Buriganga at Kadamtoli in Dhaka.
A six-judge bench presided over by chief justice passed the order after hearing an appeal filed by Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority.
The High Court on October 29, 2019 asked the BIWTA to maintain status-quo over position of the bank which was occupied by the Mac Enterprises to run stone business.
The order came after BIWTA seized 20,000 tonnes of stone stored in the river bank at Munshikhola and ordered the business leave the land by August 5, 2019.
Manzill Murshid appeared for BIWTA while Prabir Neogi represented the company.
