UN General Assembly president Volkan Bozkır would arrive in Bangladesh next week to meet forcibly displaced Rohingya people of Myanmar in camps in Cox’s Bazar.
He would reach Dhaka on May 25 on a two-day official visit, according to foreign ministry officials.
Bozkır would call on prime minister Sheikh Hasina and foreign minister AK Abdul Momen on May 25.
He would also visit the Bangabandhu Museum at Dhanmondi in Dhaka.
He would reach Cox’s Bazar camps for a day trip on May 26.
Bozkır, a Turkish national, was elected as the UNGA president in 2020.
The UNGA president is a position voted for by the UN member countries on a yearly basis.
The president is the chair and presiding officer of the General Assembly.
