Cultural organisation Radharaman Sangskriti Charcha Kendra paid tribute to the late renowned lyricist, composer and poet Rajanikanta Sen organising an online programme on Sunday.
The programme, titled ‘Nagarik Palli Geeti’, was streamed live on the Facebook page of the organisation at 9:00pm.
Tagore singers Moqbul Hossain and Swati Sarker rendered songs of Rajanikanta Sen at the programme, which was anchored by general secretary of Radharaman Sangskriti Charcha Kendra Biswajit Roy.
Swati Sarker commenced the programme rendering Rajanikanta Sen’s romantic song Preme jol hoye jao gole. She later rendered Sakha tomare paile ar, Tumi arup swarup, Tumi amar antasthaler and Mayer deoa mota kapor.
Moqbul Hossain sang Jekhane se doyal amar, Keu nayan mude dekhe alo, Chande chande bodle jabe, Bhasa re jiban tarani, Tabo charano nimne and Sakha tomare paile.
‘Rajanikanta Sen enriched Bangla music treasure trove with his timeless creations. He established himself as a poet when he was only 15 years old. The younger generation
should follow in his footsteps,’ said Moqbul Hossain.
‘Rajanikanta Sen had penned many songs inspired by different genres including Bhatiyali, Kirtan, Baul, Ramprasadi and Panchali. He portrayed nature, human relationship, patriotism and others in his songs. It is an honour to be invited to participate in this programme,’ said Swati Sarker.
‘Rajanikanta Sen had made significant contribution to Bangla music. It is our responsibility to preserve and promote his works. We arranged this online programme to pay tribute to him and promote his songs. The younger generation singers should make the effort to learn from him,’ said Biswajit Roy.
