Rohingya leader shot dead

A Rohingya community leader was shot dead by armed miscreants at Lombasiha of Kutupalong refugee camp under Ukhiya Police Station in Cox’s Bazar on Saturday evening.

Shawkat Hosen of Refugees camp-2 of Block-W-B was shot at his shop on Saturday evening, said the camp dwellers.

They also said that the attackers turned up riding motorcycles and drove away seconds after shooting at the community leader.

Shawkat was taken to a local hospital but doctors referred him to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital as his condition was critical.

However, Shawkat died on the way to the hospital.

14 Armed Police Battalion superintendent of police Nimul Hoque told New Age that a case was filed with Ukhiya Police Station in this connection.
