Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday congratulated Himanta Biswa Sarma of the north-eastern Indian state Assam on his taking over the office of the chief minister of the state.
She conveyed the congratulations in a message sent to his office through the Bangladesh mission in the state, according to diplomatic sources.
Sheikh Hasina also 'invited Indian State of Assam to reap benefits from Bangladesh's growth trajectory' in view of warmth and depth of the diversity of relationships of the two countries, according to a tweet of the Bangladesh foreign ministry on Friday.
The prime minister also wished him success 'in leading his pluralistic state' as new chief minister of Assam, it said.
