The Bangladesh Bank on Tuesday asked banks to provide services to their clients today for four hours from 10:00am to 2:00pm to facilitate Eid-ul-Fitr-centric banking transactions.
BB executive director and spokesperson Md Serajul Islam told New Age that the banks would provide services to their customers on a limited scale today as they have been doing since April 14 amid the ongoing Covid restrictions.
Banks have been providing services from 10:00am to 2:00pm since May 6 after a one-hour extension of banking hours.
A BB circular issued on May 5 asked banks to keep their branches having dealings with apparel industries in Dhaka, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj and Chattogram and the related department in their head office functional from May 10 to May 13 if Eid-ul-Fitr is observed on May 14.
Following the BB’s decision to keep banking services open, the country’s bourses on Tuesday also decided to keep the stock market open today.
