Leaders of Workers Party of Bangladesh, a partner of ruling Awami League led alliance, on Tuesday alleged that the poor people of the country were suffering seriously during the ongoing Covid crisis due to shortage of food and cash money.
WP president Rashed Kahn Menon, connecting virtually at a relief distribution programme at party’s central office premises at Topkhana Road in Dhaka, said that the government had failed to take coordinated relief distribution programme among affected poor people across the country.
Dhaka City unit of the party distributed week long relief giving programmes among the urban poor, especially among the hawkers, rickshaw pullers and transport workers, that ended on Tuesday.
Chaired by WP Dhaka city president Abul Hosain, general secretary Kishore Roy, central leaders Mohammad Touhid and Sadakat Hossain Khan, among others, also spoke.
