A Dhaka metropolitan magistrate court sent Muhammad Mamunul Haque, joint secretary general of the dissolved central committee of Hefazat-e-Islam, along with one of his followers to jail on Monday.
Metropolitan magistrate Nivana Khair gave the order for the judicial custody.
Prisons officials at Dhaka Central Jail said they reached the jail at about 2:00pm.
Police arrested Mamunul Haque from Jamia Rahmania Arabia Madrassah in Mohammadpur of the capital Dhaka on April 18 in connection with a case filed with Mohmmadpur police station in March 2020 over physical assaults and snatching valuables.
