The University Grants Commission of Bangladesh on Thursday gave clearance to public universities to hold exams online as an attempt to reduce session jams amid closure of educational institutions for Covid outbreak.
The clearance was given after UGC held a meeting with the representatives of public universities based on a committee report that gave guidelines for public universities for maintaining the minimum standards, the commission member Muhammad Alamgir told New Age on Thursday.
‘The academic councils of the universities will decide whether they will hold examinations online considering ground realities,’ Alamgir said.
He claimed that representatives of 46 public universities public, now in operations, in the online meeting with the commission agreed to hold semester finals online.
The draft report for holding online examinations would be placed at the education ministry soon for its approval, Alamgir said.
