The High Court on Wednesday allowed Tafsir Mohammad Awal, younger son of BNP leader and businessman Abdul Awal Mintoo, to travel abroad.

The court also stayed for three months the activities of international travel ban imposed by the immigration police on Tafsir on the request by the Ant-Corruption Commission in April 2020.

The court online bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Sardar Md Rashed Jahangir passed the order after hearing a writ petition filed by Tafsir, a director of Pragati Life Insurance Ltd, challenging the legality of barring him from going abroad.

Tafsir’s lawyer Mustafizur Rahman Khan told the court that the immigration police prevented his client to go London in February.

He told the court that Tafsir was due to travel London this month to see his son and would return to the country on June 18.

ACC lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan said that international travel ban on Tafsir was imposed as an inquiry was pending against him.
