Police arrested a man in his thirties at Kazipara of Puratan Kashba in Jashore on Tuesday in connection with a case filed against him for reportedly attacking the NTV cameraperson in Jashore on the previous day.
A Jashore court sent the arrested, Sakib, to judicial custody after police placed him before the court.
Sakib attacked cameraperson Shamim Reza, 29, with a piece of iron rod at Kazipara.
Kotwali Police Station officer-in-charge Tajul Islam said that Sakib swooped on Shamim after they had had an alternation when Shamim on his way home stopped near Diamond Press crossing to buy some foods just before iftar time.
Hearing Shamim shout for help, locals went forward and inhibited Sakib and took Shamim to Jashore General Hospital with critical wounds.
A case was lodged with Kotwali Police Station.
Shamim complained that Sakib beat him, snatched his money and damaged his motorcycle.
Sakirul Kabir Riton, the convener of TV Journalists Association of Jashore, condemned the attack.
