China Railway Engineering Corporation, which is constructing the Padma Bridge Rail Link Project, on Saturday appealed for re-opening flights between Bangladesh and China.

It made the appeal for much-needed travel by 30 persons including the project managers, safety and quality personnel, and technical construction personnel between China and Bangladesh every week, according to a press release from China Railway Group Limited.

The government imposed ban on all commercial, international and domestic flight operations for one week from April 14 to check the new spike of COVID-19.

CREC said it appreciated the efforts made by the government to control the spread of COVID-19 and would follow the epidemic prevention rules.

But the execution of the Padma Bridge Rail Link Project matters a lot for the well-being of the local subcontractors, it said.

It added that suspension of flights would lead to serious congestion of ships that carry steel beams, steel bars, geo-technical materials, among others, ordered by the project in Chattogram.
