Basurhat municipality mayor Abdul Quader Mirza, also younger brother of the ruling Awami League’s general secretary Obaidul Quader, on Friday vowed to resist Obaidul at Companiganj in Noakhali.

‘If needed, I will shed blood to obstruct your entry to Companiganj,’ he said to his brother in a live video on his Facebook page.

On March 31, Quader Mirza resigned from his post in the ruling party’s Companiganj upazila unit, protesting at the alleged administrative harassment inflicted on his followers and activists.

On Friday, he reiterated that local police and other administrative officials were misbehaving with him.

He said that his brother, Obaidul, also road transport and bridges minister, had bowed down to evil forces.

‘Obaidul is busy to save his corrupt wife but he will not be able to save her finally,’ he said.

He complained that Obaidul’s wife and his father-in-law family members made huge money abusing Obaidul’s political clout.
