Popular rock singer, bassist and founder of the rock band Aurthohin, Saidus Salehin Khaled Sumon, popularly known as Bassbaba Sumon, who is undergoing treatment in Bangkok, Thailand, said that he will return to Dhaka in May.
The singer himself confirmed the matter in a Facebook post in the wee hours of Friday.
‘I am spending my days playing cyberpunk game in the hotel. I go to the hospital once every three days for therapy. I will return to Dhaka next month,’ said Sumon in his Facebook Post.
‘I am still suffering from spine-related problem. I will have to undergo a few surgeries. I will probably travel to Germany after Eid. Please do not pay heed to those saying that I am on deathbed and counting the remaining days of my life. I am very much alive. I urge all to stay safe,’ Sumon added.
Sumon flew to Bangkok on March 11 for treatment and was admitted to Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital.
Razu Ahammed, manager of Aurthohin, earlier told New Age that Sumon was scheduled to undergo spine surgery in March 2020 but he could not travel aboard due to the COVID-19 situation.
Sumon was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2011. He underwent surgery and received chemotherapy. He was pronounced cancer-free in 2013. Sumon started his career at the age of 19. He played for different bands before joining Warfaze in 1997. He founded Aurthohin in 1998.
