Leaders of Socialist Labour Front on Tuesday at a protest rally called on the government to give food and cash aid to the workers of informal sector who had lost jobs during coronavirus regime.
The SLF held the rally in front of the National Press Club where its president Razequzzaman Ratan said that many workers of formal and informal sector had lost their jobs during the coronavirus stalemate.
They cannot run their families without aid, Ratan said, calling on the government to give special aid for the affected workers immediately.
SLF general secretary Ahsan Habib Bulbul, labour leaders Saifuzzaman Badsha, Khalequzzaman Lipon, Zilfiquar Ali and others spoke at the rally.
The rally was followed by a protest procession that paraded different city roads.
The SLF made the demand a day before the government enforced a seven-day restriction on public movement to contain the surge in the coronavirus cases.
