The cabinet division on Tuesday requested the Bangladesh Bank to instruct all the scheduled banks to provide banking services for special purposes.
The request came from the cabinet division a day after BB’s Monday’s circular to keep all the scheduled banks closed from April 14 to April 21 following the imposition of fresh week-long restrictions on movement to contain the spread of COVID-19.
BB executive director and spokesperson Md Serajul Islam said that the central bank was working to issue a circular following the Cabinet Division requests.
BB on Monday said that all the banks would remain closed during the countrywide shutdown except branches, sub-branches and booths of banks adjacent to land, water and airports.
