Two ‘suspected robbers’ lynched in Habiganj

Two suspected robbers were killed in a mob attack at Gunipur of Lakhai upazila in Habiganj on early Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Hamid, 42, of village Dharmandal of Brahmanbaria and Humayun Mia, 40 of Madhabpur upazila in Habiganj.

Mohiuddin Sumon, officer-in-charge of Lakhai police station, said that nine to 10 robbers attacked the house of one Jalal Mia of the area at about 1:30am.

Sensing presence of the robbers, Jalal informed the matter to his neighbours over phone.

Later, local people besieged the house and managed to catch two robbers while the others managed to flee the scene.

The angry mob then gave the robbers a good beating, leaving them dead on the spot.

Later, police recovered the bodies.
