The government on Thursday allowed businessmen to keep their shops, shopping malls and markets open for eight hours since 9:00am every day from April 9 and till April 13 following health rules to contain the spread of COVID-19 infection.
The cabinet division made the announcement in an official circular signed by deputy secretary Md Rezaul Islam and warned that appropriate legal actions would be taken if the health rules were not followed.
The office circular said that the vaccination activities would be continued as usual.
The government imposed a weeklong restriction from April 5, restricting public movement and businesses and banning all public transports including domestic flights.
The government, however, allowed buses in cities across the country for 12 hours a day until 6:00pm from Wednesday especially to facilitate office goers.
The businessmen in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country had been demonstrating from the very beginning of the lockdown demanding that the government should allow them to continue their business following health guidelines.
