Associate professor of Bangla department at Islamic University M Baki Billah received Sahitya Diganta Award 2020, which is given annually by Dhaka Sahitya Sangsad.
He received the award for his book titled Abinashi Rabindranath on Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.
The name of the award winner was announced at a programme held on Saturday in the capital.
Poet Rezauddin Stalin, Bangla Academy deputy director Shahadat Hossain Nipu, researcher Rahima Akhter Kalpana, Ziaul Haque and Zayed Hossain Lucky, among others, were present at the programme.
M Baki Billah could not attend the event due to the increase in COVID-19 infection rate.
‘I feel honoured and humbled to receive this award. I thank Dhaka Sahitya Sangsad for selecting me for the award. I will try to work hard in the coming days,’ M Baki Billah told New Age.
Earlier, Baki Billah bagged Bengali Voice Award and Poet Omar Ali Award. He penned more than 30 books comprising essays, collections of poems and collections of short stories.
