Shamsuzzaman, Mita, Mimi hospitalised

Shamsuzzaman Khan, Mita Haque and Afsana Mimi

Folklorist and Bangla Academy president Shamsuzzaman Khan, Tagore singer Mita Haque and director of drama and film department of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Afsana Mimi have been hospitalised with COVID-19.

Shamsuzzaman Khan and his wife tested positive for COVID-19 on March 30. They are undergoing treatment at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.

Bangla Academy’s public relations department director Aparesh Kumar Banerjee confirmed the matter to New Age.

‘Shamsuzzaman Khan and his wife tested positive for COVID-19 on March 30. Both were admitted to the BSMMU on the same day. Though Shamsuzzaman Khan developed breathing problems, he is currently doing better,’ Aparesh Kumar Banerjee told New Age.

Mita Haque tested positive for COVID-19 on March 25. She is undergoing treatment at the Bangladesh Specialized Hospital.

Chhayanaut general secretary and Tagore singer Laisa Ahmed Lisa confirmed the matter to New Age.

‘Mita Haque tested positive for COVID-19 on March 25. She was admitted to the Bangladesh Specialized Hospital on March 31,’ said Laisa Ahmed Lisa.

Afsana Mimi is undergoing treatment at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. She tested positive for COVID-19 in the past week.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy public relations officer Hasan Mahmud confirmed the matter to New Age.

‘Afsana Mimi tested positive for COVID-19 in the past week. She was receiving treatment at home but was admitted to the BSMMU on March 30 after her condition deteriorated. Doctors are closely monitoring her situation,’ Hasan Mahmud told New Age.
