Left-leaning student organisations on Wednesday held a protest rally over the alleged attack on and killing of anti-Modi protesters during their protests against Indian prime minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Bangladesh.

The rally was held at the foot of Anti-Terrorism Raju Memorial Sculpture at around 12:30pm.

Rashed Shahariar, general secretary of Socialist Chhatra Front said that India was trying to establish a supremacy over Bangladesh and killing people in the border areas. The Indian leader was welcomed to Bangladesh although they had kept pending signing of the Teesta water sharing treaty, he added.

‘We protested at Modi’s arrival in Dhaka, but BCL attacked us, we strongly condemn this heinous attack,’ he added.

Mitu Sarkar, president of a faction of Bangladesh Chhatra Federation said that Bangladesh Chhatra League attacked us on the campus and the police attacked madrassah students while protesting against Narendra Modi’s visit on March 26-27.

‘People of this country will resist any kind of communal forces at any cost,’ she, however, added.
