Chinese embassy on Monday presented a bust of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding president of Bangladesh, to prime minister Sheikh Hasina marking his birth centenary and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence.

Chinese ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming handed over the brass-made bust to the PM when he paid a courtesy call on the PM at her official Ganabhaban residence in the morning.

PM’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting.

On behalf of his country, Jiming also offered 1 lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Bangladesh for its urgent use.

He conveyed Chinese president Xi Jinping’s message of good wishes to the prime minister, the press secretary said.

The PM, he said, thanked and appreciated the gesture of the Chinese embassy for presenting the mural of the Father of the Nation.

PM’s principal secretary Ahmad Kaikaus was present on the occasion.
