The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs is going to construct 30,000 homes for insolvent freedom fighters, birangonas, martyred freedom fighters’ family, and widows and children of late freedom fighters.
The homes will be built in 64 districts under a project worth Tk 4,122.98 crore, said officials of the planning commission.
The planning commission officials said the project proposal of the liberation war affairs ministry would be placed before the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council next week for approval.
According to the project proposal, the implementation period of the project will be form January 2021 to June 2023.
The homes will be given to insolvent freedom fighters, birangonas, martyred freedom fighters, and widows and children of late freedom fighters as a gift from prime minister Sheikh Hasina on the occasion of the golden jubilee of the country’s Independence, said the project proposal.
In February, the PM announced that the minimum monthly allowance of the freedom fighters would be raised to Tk 20,000 from the existing Tk 12,000 while inaugurating the transfer of allowance to 168,000 freedom fighters and their families through an electronic fund transfer system.
